Rating : - My first hdtv; looks like a keeper. Had to replace a fifteen year old RCA 31" crt set. Analyzed these things to death. Flat screens are now the only way you can go, forcing most to higher cable/sat charges for HD content. I don't have HD (Dish) yet, so the full capabilities of this Samsung are yet to be proven. Standard def material is catch as catch can; some is just fine, some is purty awful...but truth be told, that is more'n likely the fault of the program source (pink faces, crappy looking graphics and the like.) A couple of cons in MHO; touch of color seems to be a waste of ad space. What is needed?? Put a table lamp behind the set to be able to enjoy the burgundy-wine colored ring? What, already. Next...those touch-sensitive controls in front of the set. To use them, one has to go fetch a flashlight. Useless, unless engineering would have back-lighted the little suckers. Lastly, that annoying "muted" icon that floats around the screen. Get rid of it, or at least just flash the muted indicator momentarily; no sound?? Press a volume button and the question is answered. As for all the negative reviews about Samsung support and service; I bought from a local big-box store and ponied up for their three year coverage. Takes the factory run-around out of the loop. Hope to never have to use it, but if ever needed, the policy will handle all the footwork. That's why one buys insurance, huh? So far (three weeks and counting) this set is working out fine. Now, let's see, where did I see that really good blu-ray disk player??
